Today several of my classmates did a presentation on how Skype can be used in the classroom. Skype is one of the fastest growing technological advances today, with millions of users around the world using it to video chat with one another via the internet. Skype gives you the option of calling landlines or cell phones and also calling within the Skype service. Calls to outside lines are charged by the minute, however calls within Skype are completely free. That means one classroom could connect with another, across the globe, free of charge with the click of a mouse. The possibilities are endless for teachers who want their students to be introduced to cultures beside their own. Skype should be one of the primary technology-related tools for any classroom teacher.
